To the editor:
This is the third year doing the Toys for Tots Program within Aroostook and Washington counties. We have three coordinators, I have the area from Mars Hill to Washington County (Aroostook County – southeast), Terri Conklin has Aroostook County – southwest, and Rudolph St. Peter has northern Aroostook County.
I am very happy to say that we have served in bringing Christmas to 1,846 young people who would not have had presents for Christmas these past three years.
I am very appreciative to all the businesses that let me put boxes and donation cans in their building to get toys for the children. Thanks also to the businesses who matched the community donations with pledges of their own!
This year we worked through the school systems and with local churches and with The Other Maine Project/Aid for Kids. Next year along with The Salvation Army we will be combining to ensure that we can make our resources serve as many youth and families as possible.
