Charles E. Curtis, 74,  passed away March 9, 2014. He was born October 6, 1939, in Stacyville. He was the son of the late Charles E. and Almoza (Larson) Curtis.
As a young man, he worked in the woods with his father, and for many years at the Cedar Mill in Island Falls. He had a love for fishing, hunting and always looked forward to fiddleheads in the spring which he lovingly shared with the elderly in his neighborhood.
Charlie was a gentle man who was known by most for his generous and loving spirit. Charlie was happiest when he was surrounded by his family and friends. He was known for the laughs and smiles he could always bring to others.
He is survived by his brother, Donald Curtis and wife, Ann of Holden; his sisters, Mabel Williams Winship, of Patten (with whom he made his home), Gladys Corneil, of Oakfield, Marlene Grant, of Island Falls, Rowena DuBois, of Island Falls; sister-in-law, Cheryl Curtis, of Wallingford CT; and several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by siblings Oscar Curtis of Wallingford, CT, Douglas Curtis of Island Falls, Mary Eldridge of Haverhill, MA, Nellie Curtis of Island Falls, and Arlene Larson of Stacyville.
Interment will take place in the Island Falls cemetery with a graveside service in the late spring.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Lafayette Family Cancer Center, Brewer Rehabilitation, the Visiting Nurses/Hospice of Aroostook, all others involved in his personal care.
