Houlton Little League sign ups start Monday

Sign-ups for the Houlton Area Little League for all age divisions will be Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday March 31 and April 1-2 at the Houlton Recreation Center from 4:30-7 p.m.
All players will placed on a team and no one will be cut from the program.

Little League baseball players (ages 7-12) can live in Houlton, Hammond, Ludlow and New Limerick, or attend any school in Houlton — which reflects a new Little League rule taking affect this season. The new rule change allows any student who attends any school in Houlton to participate in the Houlton Area Little League, in any division, without the need for a waiver. Parents should bring a copy of their child’s report card or enrollment record to sign ups.
A photocopy of a birth certificate is also needed for all players at registration.
Little League softball players (ages 9-12) and Junior/Senior League baseball players (ages 13-16) may live anywhere within the Houlton or Hodgdon school districts.
The cost is $45 per player to participate in Houlton Little League. Cost for families with two players will be $40 each; families with three or more players will pay $35 each. This includes children in any division.
The League has a developmental “Minor League Division”  for players ages 7 to 11 to go along with the “Majors Division” for players ages 10 to 12.
Girls, ages 9-12, determined by the appropriate cutoff date will play in the softball “Majors” division.
Minors/Majors baseball division birthday cutoff date is May 1 (a player must be at least 7 before that date).
Players turning 13 before May 1 will only be eligible for Junior League play, later in the spring.
The Junior League baseball division birthday cutoff date is also May 1. Players must be at least 13 before that date.
Players turning 15 before May 1 are too old and would not be eligible for Junior League play.
Senior League will also be offered. The cutoff dates are the same as the Junior League.
Players ages 15-16 are eligible to play Senior League depending upon the cutoff date.
Girls Majors softball division birthday cutoff date is Jan. 1.
Players must be at least nine before that date. Players turning 13 before Jan. 1 will not be eligible for Little League softball play this season.
