The Washburn Trail Runners Snowmobile clubhouse was the scene of a very busy morning on Saturday, Feb. 17. The breakfast business enjoyed a bigger crowd than usual, with members needing to set up a few more tables and chairs to accommodate the hungry sledders.
Amongst all the hubbub, Benjamin Ginn was a busy fellow out in the front yard of the clubhouse with a large 12-foot banner taped to his sled, making several trips around the yard sporting his important message: “Will You Marry Me?” Several folks saw him doing this, but not the future Mrs. Ginn! Finally some family members got his bride to be, Whitney Hardison, outside to see it for herself! The prospective groom then got down on his knees in the snow and asked for her hand in marriage, and in the midst of many smiles and happy tears, to the delight of all, she accepted. Lots of photos were taken and this surely will be a special time for the couple to remember. It won’t likely be forgotten at the Trail Runners clubhouse either.
The couple have been visiting this area often. Ben’s dad has been coming to the Washburn area for the past six or seven years, enjoying the trails and visiting the Trail Runners clubhouse. The couple will likely marry in their home area of Winterport, but they will know they are always welcome to ‘honeymoon’ in this area. The town of Washburn wishes them the heartiest of congratulations!
