    American Flag ColorLINNEUS – Gary Sawyer, 68, died March 31 in Houlton. He was born January 16, 1946 in Houlton, the son of Clyde and Bessie (McLean) Sawyer.
    He was a veteran of the U.S. Army from November 19, 1964 to September 7, 1972, serving two tours in Vietnam and receiving three Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star with Valor and several other achievements and awards, and served in the Army National Guard from October 28, 1983 – June 11, 1990.
    He is survived by his wife, Linda L. Sawyer of Linneus; seven children, Melissa Sawyer of Linneus, Betsy Sawyer and son-in-law Joe Buzzeo of Buxton, Heather Sewell of Houlton, Vicki Sawyer and son-in-law Thom Goodall of Littleton, Gary “Beau” Sawyer Jr. and Todd White of E. Windsor NJ, Heidi Sawyer and son-in-law Mark Lake of Stacyville; twelve grand-children; four great-grand-children; a sister, Brenda Swimm of Houlton; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Les; his parents; five brothers, Carl, Paul, Hershel, Harold, and Kenneth; and a sister, Dolores.
    Friends may call 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, April 3 and 10-11 a.m. on Friday at Bowers Funeral Home, 10 Water Street, Houlton, where funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. with Rev.
