McNally receives floral award
    PATTEN — Georgia Bragdon McNally of Patten Drug Company has been inducted into the Maine Master Floral Designers. One of the Maine State Florists and Growers Association’s goals is to provide quality education for its members. One of the courses offered is the Maine Master Floral Design School.

    The advanced floral design course provides specialized, up-to-date and in-depth knowledge of the elements and principles of design, coupled with experience in floral mechanics and techniques.
    Students must pass at 80 percent or higher and are graded on the evaluation of nine designs, plus a surprise written test and final exam. Upon passing the class, students may use the master florist title.
County growers appointed to USPB committee
    DENVER — The United States Potato Board grower membership elected new leadership during its annual meeting held March 11-13 in Colorado Springs, Colo.
    Keith Doyen of Mapleton and Jay LaJoie of Van Buren were elected to the Industry Communications & Policy committee for the coming year.
