    Mitchell, Joseph “Bud”, 87, April 27, 2014.  Calling hours are today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bethel Pentecostal Church, Oakfield, where services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m.  Interment to be held in the Merrill Cemetery.  Arrangements by Bowers Funeral Home.

    PT-Joseph-MitchellAmerican Flag ColorMERRILL – Joseph “Bud” J. Mitchell, 87, beloved husband of Lucile G. Mitchell, passed away April 27, 2014, with his loved ones by his side. He was born March 15, 1927, in Dyer Brook, the son of Virgil and Lydia (Goode) Mitchell Sr.
    Joseph attended Dyer Brook schools and graduated from Merrill High School. He served in the US Army during WWII. Joseph worked for the Bangor and Aroostook Railroad for 41 years, retiring in 1989. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion Post #52. Joseph enjoyed 60 years of hunting with his buddies, Gene, Dale and Frank “Jokey” Bates and the rest of the boys. One of his favorite pastimes was working in his gardens. He prided himself in keeping his lawn mowed and his driveway clear of snow.
    He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Lucile (Russell); daughters, Natalie Webber and her husband, Lee of Millinocket, and Bonnie Collier and her husband, Jerry of Oakfield; son Byron Mitchell and his fiancée, Mary Smith of Steep Falls; grandchildren, Shawn and Shane Batchelder, Toby Collier and his friend, Jessica Crane, Todd and Janelle Collier and Cassidy Mitchell; five great-grand-children, Zachary and Melanie Batchelder, Felicia and Jeremy Crawford, Tannor Batchelder, Hunter Joseph Collier and Ethan Collier; four great-great-grandchildren, Avery Batchelder, Aurora, Faith and Jeremy Crawford; brothers, Robert Mitchell, Lyle Mitchell and Kurt Fanjoy; sisters, Carol Carabetta and Debbie Fox; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; sister, Gloria “Sis” Russell; brothers, Clark E. Mitchell, Virgil E. Mitchell Jr. and Gary Mitchell.
    Friends may call 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30th at Bethel Pentecostal Church, Oakfield where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Thursday with the Rev. Sterling Lawrence officiating. Interment will be in the Merrill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may donate to the veterans’ memorial fund, c/o American Legion Post #52, 10 Station Road, Oakfield ME 04763.
