    Five FedEx Express drivers were honored earlier this year for their safe driving records.

    “The FedEx Express safe driving award program is a recognition program for employees who have zero preventable accidents within the previous year. The awards for employees achieving awards since December were presented in a work group meeting and breakfast, held March 26,” said Michael Houston, senior manager of operations for the Augusta, Bangor and Presque Isle branches.
    Each employee received an award for safe driving and continuous service.
    “When employees achieve 25 years of safe driving, they also receive a leather jacket. Four out of the 12 employees at Presque Isle have achieved this milestone,” said Houston.
    Houston said the team has a combined total of 175 years of safe driving.
    “That’s quite an accomplishment given the winter driving conditions,” said Houston.
    Employees recently recognized include:
• Dot Knight, 13 years of service, a swing driver and covers all of the Presque Isle service area;
• Al Hebert, 26 years of service, covering southern Aroostook down Route 11 to Sherman and Patten;
• Rod Sperrey, 29 years of service, covering Madawaska and surrounding area;
• Peter Brown, 29 years of service, covering the Houlton area;
• Wayne Giberson, 30 years of service, covering central Aroostook, along U.S. Route 1.
