HOULTON – Joann Gentle Robertson 87, died May 5, 2014, at a local healthcare facility. She was born Jan. 31, 1927, at Houlton, the daughter of Karl and Bertha (McCready) Kittredge.
Joann was a graduate of Houlton High School, Class of 44. She attended Ricker College and graduated from Maine General as a registered nurse. She attended Court Street Baptist Church and the Littleton Baptist Church. Joann was an active member of the Littleton PTA and a lifelong member of the Southern Aroostook Agricultural Museum. She enjoyed singing in the Betmar chorus in Florida. She was a lifetime member of the Eastern Star and also a member of the Houlton Community Golf Course.
Joann is survived by her daughter, Judy Gentle Hayward of Orlando, FL; three grandchildren, Justin Hayward of Gray, Nathan Hayward and his wife, Carolyn, of Seattle, WA, Allison Hayward of Dover, NH; two great-grandchildren, Collin and Syliva Hayward, both of Gray; her devoted companion, Clair Longstaff of Houlton; stepchildren, Howard and his wife, Candy Robertson, Richard and his wife, Penny Robertson, Hollie and her husband, Scott Davis, all of Monmouth; and several cousins. She was predeceased by her first husband, Warren Gentle; her second husband, Fred “Bud” Robertson; her son, Doug Gentle; and stepson, Jim Robertson.
The family would like to thank Dr. Ted Sussman and the staff at Gardiner Health Care Facility for taking such loving care of Joann.
Friends may call Thursday 6 to 8 p.m. at the Dunn Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Rev. David Tuttle officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery.
