Clifton Roy is very excited and pleased to announce that on May 14 he will once again start the Country Jamboree after a long illness. He has now recovered and hopes that all his musician friends will be there to greet him. The Jamboree will be from 6-9 p.m. and costs $5 per couple and $3 for a single. Clifton is anxious to see all his old friends once more to enjoy an evening of songs and dancing.
I checked in on Charlene Webb recently to see how she is doing with the bad ankle. I am happy to report that it is healing well and she will soon have the bandage removed for good.
Peter and Cheryl Connelly are back from their winter home in Florida and are busily settling into the new addition to their home and cleaning up the debris left from the construction. The snow has all disappeared now so that makes the task much easier.
I am still having problems with the pesky squirrels so I am not taking out great amounts of birdseed any more, because as soon as I get back into the house they appear, just like magic to devour all the seeds. But I keep an eye out for them and make sure all my small birds get a fair share. I have seen a mourning dove eating the seeds dropped on the ground and have lots of different swallows now and the male gold finch are plentiful and so pretty.
I didn’t have any deer for a week or two, but now I have from three to five that show up in my back lawn to graze for a couple of hours. Do not throw out any more bread and apples — I guess they don’t need it now.
Cars still stop occasionally to get a glimpse of the deer out back and sometimes it spooks them and they run for the safety of the woods. Then, in about half hour they are back to their grazing.
