Warman, Crockett excel in track and field

Greater Houlton Christian Academy’s Rylee Warman is a provisional state qualifier in the 800-meter run  for track and field, while Houlton’s Elyjah Crockett is also making his mark in field events.

In last Saturday’s track and field meet in Caribou, Warman finished the 800-meter run in a time of 2:42.94 for a fourth-place finish, missing an automatic state bid by two seconds. In the 1,600-meter run, she was eighth with a time of 6:22.88 and in the 3,200, she placed fourth with a time of 13:47.87. On Saturday, Houlton’s Crockett was first in the shot put with a distance of 41 feet, 2 inches for an automatic state-qualifying throw. In the discus, he was third with a distance of 103 feet, 9 inches for a provisional state qualifying throw; and in the javelin, he was third with a throw of 119 feet, 1 inch. The provisional standard is 127 feet.
The first Aroostook County track meet of the spring was held last Tuesday in Presque Isle. The meet was originally scheduled May 2.
GHCA’s Warman was fourth in the 1,600 with a time of 6:13.21 and first in the 3,200 with a 13:49.76 finishing time, while Crockett was first in the shot put with a mark of 38 feet, 10-1/4 inches; second in the discus at 99 feet and fourth in the javelin at 110 feet, 8 inches.
The Aroostook County Championship will be held Friday, May 30, in Caribou at 5 p.m.
