NHS members raise funds for Wounded Warrior Project

The Northern Region National Honor Society members voted in November 2013 to adopt fundraising for the Wounded Warrior Project as the region’s service project. Wounded Warrior Project is a veterans’ service organization that offers a variety of programs, service and events for wounded veterans of the military actions following the events of 9/11.
All Aroostook County schools in the region that participate in the Northern Region’s events were challenged to raise money for this worthy and inspiring organization. Each regional school held fundraisers in their schools, and the money was pooled in March.
Barbara Hayslett, district representative for Congressman Mike Michaud, the ranking member of the Veterans Affairs Committee, agreed to accept the ceremonial check at the spring convention. Through the efforts and hard work of all the chapters, the region was able to donate $2,965.
