Margaret Mead once said “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, concerned citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”
These words exemplify the students in National Honor Society throughout the state of Maine. Hundreds of these students from National Honor Societies throughout the State of Maine gathered on March 7, at the University of Maine at Orono for the Maine National Honor Society Convention. The theme of this year’s convention was “Leadership: Turning Passion into Action”.
Throughout this time together, students learned of several different organizations and people who are doing just that, turning their passions into action and making a difference in the lives of others. During this time, the students also had a chance to elect officers to leader their group in changing the world for the upcoming school year.
Hodgdon High School is proud to announce that one of its own, Chris Hudson, was elected to be the vice president for the Maine National Honor Society for 2014-2015. Hudson will have the opportunity to meet with other students in leadership positions as well as several principals from around the state of Maine to work on planning the MNHS convention as well as addressing the needs and concerns of NHS chapters in the state. He will blend unique style of leadership with his gift for public speaking to be an effective leader for MNHS. This group of students will, with no doubt, work to change the world.
