HODGDON – Alan George Quint, 69, passed away May 27, 2014, at home with his brothers and sisters at his side after a short battle with cancer. He was born January 16, 1945, the eldest son of Cyril and Evelyn (Oliver) Quint of Hodgdon.
Alan attended the Hodgdon schools where he graduated class of 1963. In his early years Alan worked alongside his father cutting pulp in the wood. Alan worked for several farmers in the area but more notably for Lawrence and Barbara Goff. He spent his later years looking after our mother which we are all thankful for.
Alan enjoyed sports of all kinds but especially the Hodgdon Hawks where he cheered enthusiastically for nephews, nieces, and all his cousins. It should be noted that Alan refused to listen to the State Championship game this year in fear he would jinx the boys.
Alan is survived by his sisters, Sharol and her husband, Lanny Putnam, Melinda and her husband, Robert Horan; his brothers, Pedro and his wife, Annette, Gehrig, Kurt and his wife, Claudia, and Brent. Alan was predeceased by his parents; and his sisters, Sharon Quint, Judy Hutchinson, Sally Danubio and Clare Quint.
Friends called Friday 6 to 8 p.m. at the Dunn Funeral Home. Graveside service was held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Hodgdon Cemetery with Rev. David Tuttle officiating. Gifts may be made in Alan’s memory to the Houlton Humane Society c/o Dunn Funeral Home, 11 Park Street, Houlton, ME 04730. Online condolences and guest book: dunnfuneral.com.
