PRESQUE ISLE — The Crown of Maine Balloon Fest committee has announced that Emera Maine is the title sponsor for the 2014 Crown of Maine Balloon Fest to be held in Presque Isle Aug. 21-24.
“We are excited about Emera Maine’s involvement during the festivities,” said Floyd Rockholt, committee chair.

“The Crown of Maine Balloon Fest is a favorite community event, with a little something for everyone,” said Emera Maine spokeswoman Susan Faloon. “We are proud to be part of bringing an event to Presque Isle that has such a positive impact on the community and local economy.”
Balloon Fest is preparing for its 11th year of high flying and community entertainment. Having grown from the introduction of three hot air balloons during the 2004 Isle Fest to a festival with a waiting list of pilots from across North America, the festival is now one of the major events in Aroostook County.
Balloon Fest includes activities for the entire family. Morning and evening hot air balloon flights will be surrounded by a street fair, musical entertainment, children’s activities, road races, breakfasts and much more.
Much of the activity will occur at Northern Maine Fairgrounds. Balloon launches will take place starting Thursday evening and continue morning and evening until Sunday morning. The ever-popular balloon glows will light up the sky Friday and Saturday evenings. Children’s events will be held at the Presque Isle Forum. Musical entertainment including an open mic session on Friday evening, a concert Saturday evening and a craft fair will delight the general public before and after balloon launches. Crafters will be on hand Friday evening and all day Saturday.
“Crown of Maine Balloon Fest is grateful for the support of all of our sponsors that have helped us to grow over the years,” said Rockholt. “We look forward to developing new relationships as the Crown of Maine Balloon Fest continues to grow.”
