Men’s Twilite League play has begun play for 2014 season. With three matches under all 28 of the teams’ belts, defending champs Jerry York/Bob Gray are again leading the pack with 17.5 points. On their heels are the Dave Edgar/Tom Moakler team with 16.5 points, followed by the Dan Peabody/Gabe Goodwin team, Bob Askren/Vaughn Putnam team, and the Jon Turner/Ray Mailman team, all with 16 points.
The Ladies League began play back on June 10 with 13 teams and the format of team stroke play. Four teams — Martha Fasulo/Harriet Gray, Beth Hunt/Jenn Carr, Barb Moakler/Kara Marino, and Ashley/Jen Wallace all share the lead at four under.
This Friday evening, June 20, the first Couples Scramble of the year will be held at 5:30. This event is open to non-members as well as members, so bring your partner and enjoy some fun golf. Hamburgers, hot dogs, and other pub menu items will be available after golf.
The annual June Jamboree Tournament will be held on Saturday, June 21, with tee times beginning at 8 a.m. The format again this year is nine holes of two-person scramble and nine holes of best ball. This all-net event is a fun competition and open to non-members as well as members, so sign up now. We need at least eight teams in order to hold this event.
Also coming up Saturday, July 5, is the annual Houlton High School Alumni Scramble. Get your four-person team together and be ready for this nine-hole golf treat at 9 a.m. You do not have to be a HHS alumnus to play. If you don’t have a team, sign up anyway, and we will put you with a group. Later that day is the annual Houlton High School Alumni Social from 3-7 p.m.
The Junior Golf Clinic, being conducted by Bruce Nason and David Grant, begins Tuesday, July 1. Registration for all 7-15 year olds begins at 8 a.m. Sign up now in the clubhouse (532-2662). After that week, all sessions will be held on Mondays at the same time.
