CARY PLANTATION – Alden W. Folsom, Sr. 76, went peacefully to his Savior June 4, 2014, at a Bangor hospital with his loving family gathered around him. He was born Oct. 17, 1937 at Houlton, the son of William and Erma (Stockford) Folsom.
Alden attended the Amity Baptist Church. He was a member of the National Horseshoe Association. Alden was a basket weaver, making fishing creels for the local fishermen. He enjoyed making wreaths, fishing, hunting, fiddleheading and trapping. His greatest love was teaching his grandchildren about the outdoors.
Alden is survived by his wife, Caroline (Cadigan) Folsom of Cary Plantation; three sons, Lloyd Folsom and his wife, Lori of Monticello, Rodney Adams and his wife, Erica Butzbach, of Germany, and Alden “Skip” Folsom, Jr. of Manchester, NH; his daughter, Bonnie Dickison of Houlton; three stepsons, Wayne Foster and his wife, Lisa, of Houlton, Arnold Dow and his fiancé, Phyllis, of Bangor, Patrick Dow and his wife, Lauren, of N. Conway, NH; three step-daughters, Cherie Adams and her husband, Robert, Tammy Yeaman, and Patsy Dow, all of Florida; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his brother, Leston Folsom of Portland; two sisters, Pat Grant and her husband, Roger, of Tennessee, Inez Sanborn of Houlton; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 7 at the Dunn Funeral Home with Revs. Richard McLaughlin and Wayne Robertson officiating. Interment was in the Monticello Village Cemetery.
