The Houlton Junior League all-star baseball team opened its season in Bangor last Saturday. The Houlton club fell to Old Town, 18-7.
The game was much closer than the score indicates, as Houlton trailed Old Town, 5-4 after three innings. Old Town pushed its lead in the top of the fourth to 10-4. In the fifth, both teams scored three runs to keep, as the score was 13-7, as Old Town went on to win with another five runs in the sixth.
Houlton outhit Old Town, 10-9, but the difference in the error column showed the Shires with seven miscues to Old Town’s one.
Ryder Graham doubled and drove in two runs for Houlton while Dillan Buzzell and Nick Hagan each added two singles and an RBI.
