SHERMAN, Maine — It is time once again to turn back the clock and celebrate Sherman Old Home Days.
The following is a schedule of events planned for the festivities.
Friday, August 29
6-9 p.m. — Dance, grades 6-9 at Sherman gym
Saturday, August 30
9 a.m. — Cancer walk
9 a.m. — Howard Guiggey Memorial Horseshoe Tourney at VFW
10 a.m. — Bandstand opens; hot dogs and food sale
11 a.m. — Four-wheeler ride starts at Masonic Hall
1 p.m. — Tea at the Red House for ladies of all ages
5 p.m. — Sherman High Alumni Banquet, Sherman gym (social hour 4-5 p.m.)
TOWN EVENTS NEAR TOWN OFFICE
6-8:30 p.m. — Public dance for all ages with DJ, near town office
8:30 p.m. — Fireworks
Sunday, August 31
7:30-9:30 a.m. — Breakfast at Masonic Hall
9 a.m. — Co-ed softball tourney at Sherman gym
10 a.m. — Church services
11 a.m. — Bandstand opens; pizza, nachos and cotton candy
12 p.m. — Lobster dinner; hospitality booth opens
12 p.m. — Gospel music in the park
12 p.m. — Demonstrations in the park
12:30 p.m. — Children’s parade
1 p.m. — Free children’s games and bike raffle
1 p.m. — Petting zoo
1 p.m. — Art show in the library
3:30 p.m. — Little Miss Old Home Days Pageant
4:30 p.m. — Chicken barbecue
7 p.m. — Variety show at Sherman gym
Monday, September 1
7:30 a.m. — Pumpkin doughnuts at the Perrin home
9 a.m. — Co-ed softball tourney continues
10 a.m. — Parade
10:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. — Craft show at Sherman gym
11 a.m. — Auction starts, all booths open and Beano starts
11 a.m. — Car cruisin’ in the village at Tom’s Garage
11 a.m. — Quilt show in the church
11:30 a.m. — Pork dinner, in downstairs of church
12 p.m. — Petting zoo
12 p.m. — Demonstrations in the park
12 p.m. — Music in the park
12 p.m. — Logging competitions
2 p.m. — Pet show in the park
4 p.m. — Bean supper
6 p.m. — Grounds ticket drawing $150
