HOULTON – Timothy Owen McAtee, 55, passed away August 19, 2014 at a local hospital. He was born Dec. 31, 1958 at Houlton, the son of Joseph L. and Myra (Dunphy) McAtee.
Tim was a graduate of Houlton High School, class of 1977. He was employed by York’s of Houlton for 27 years in their reconditioning department. Tim’s passions were the “Scrap Iron Pulling Team,” showing his cars with the North Country Cruisers, being in parades, the Fryeburg Fair, and his newest toy was his antique tractor. He was a member of the Maine State and Maritime Pulling Associations, the Meduxnekeag Ramblers and the North Country Cruisers. Tim loved kids and looked forward to the “Cruisin’ for Kids” toy drive campaign every year. He loved decorating for Christmas and displaying his Christmas Village.
Tim is survived by his sister, Karla Talpey and her husband, Koel of Jackman; two nephews, Timothy Talpey and his fiancé, Breanna Andrews of Brewer, and Koel Talpey and his wife, Magen of Pooler, GA; two uncles, Charles McAtee and his wife, Joan, their sons, Jeffrey and Christopher and families, and Paul McAtee of Houlton; three special cousins, Kristi McAtee and Ethel Mersereau, both of Houlton, and Karen Woodbury of Littleton; lifelong best friend, Bruce Burton; many cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Joseph, his brother, Joseph, Jr., and his aunt, Anna Schools.
Friends called at the Dunn Funeral Home Friday. A funeral service was held at the funeral home Saturday, with Deacon Al Burleigh officiating. Interment was in the Saint Mary’s Cemetery. Reception followed the interment at the Saint Mary’s Parish Center.
