    GOODWIN, Madeleine T., 88, August 21, 2014.  Interment was held in the Evergreen Cemetery.  Arrangements by Dunn Funeral Home, Houlton.

    HOULTON – Madeleine T. (Poitras) Goodwin, 88, died peacefully August 21, 2014 at a local healthcare facility. She was born Nov. 15, 1925 at Grand Falls, NB, Canada, the daughter of Joseph and Mamie (Bourgoine) Poitras.
    Madeleine grew up in a French speaking family and only began speaking English at age 12. She graduated from Woodstock High School and worked for a local veterinary for several years. In 1948, she married Dr. Robert Goodwin, OD and they were married for 52 years. They raised six children together which she felt was her greatest accomplishment in life. Madeleine was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd and sang in the church choir. She also sang in the Houlton Community Chorus. She was a volunteer for many years at Houlton Regional Hospital. Madeleine enjoyed music, dancing, fashion, playing bridge and her strong circle of friends. She was a member of the Houlton Community Golf Course and loved golfing.
    Maddie is survived by her six children, Geoffry Goodwin and his wife Lorna of Carmel, Dr. Richard Goodwin and his fiancé Jody Brownly of Houlton, Michael Goodwin and his partner David Fratkin of NY, Carolyn Fox and her husband Brian of Woodstock, NB, Juliette Steinbach and her husband Karl of Yarmouth, Roberta Goodwin and her husband Michael Fenderson of Freeport; twelve grand-children, four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Robert.
    Maddie’s children would like to extend thanks to the staff of Madigan Estates Healthcare Facility for their wonderful care.
    Friends called at the Church of the Good Shepherd Monday until the time of the service with Rev. Ginny Urbanek officiating. Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery.
