SMYRNA – Charles A. Botting Jr,. 85, of Smyrna, died Aug. 11, 2014, in Houlton. He was born Jan. 30, 1929 in Dyer Brook, the son of Charles A. Sr. and Hildred (Boutilier) Botting.
He is a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during Korea and is a member of the King – Mitchell Post VFW #7529 Island Falls and was and avid gardner.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joyce (Oliver) Botting of Smyrna; three daughters, Pam and Dennis Shields of Smyrna, Penny White of Dyer Brook and Julie and Joe Bergan of New Limerick; a son-in-law, Ross Crandall of Smyrna; ten grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Delbert and Rubenia Botting of Patten and John and Natalie Botting of Haynes City, FL.
He is predeased by his parents; a son, Ricki; a daughter, Sally Crandall; and a son-in-law, Phillip White.
A graveside funeral service was held 1 p.m. Fri. at the Dyer Brook Cemetery with the Rev. Sterling Lawrence officiating.
