The week of Aug. 25, there was great weather and great play at VaJoWa making it busy, busy, busy!
Winners of the Pairs and Spares Scramble held on Aug. 24 were: Jenness Gushee, Becky Kelley and Ted Pettengill. Taking second was Stuart Kelley, Kim Savage and Deb Porter. The third-place team was Francis Cyr, Sally Cyr, Bev Osborn and John Porter. Please feel free to join the group at 3 p.m. every Sunday with a $2.50 per person entry fee.
On Aug. 20, we hosted the Upper St John Men’s Seniors. It was a beautiful day with a field of 90 players!
The VaJoWa Old-Fashioned 18-Hole Field Day was held on Aug. 23. First gross winner was Warren Walker with a 78 and second gross went to Stuart Kelley with a 82. The net winners were as follows: first, Francis Cyr, 63; second, Greg Gayne, 67; third, Pete Lawlor, 68; fourth, Bev Osborn, 68; and fifth net Kevin Craig, 71. Thanks to all who participated. Next year will be our 50th year anniversary Field Day!
Don’t forget to sign up for our VaJoWa Ladies first Luau Golf Invitational on Wednesday, Sept. 17th! A continental breakfast will be available from 9-10 a.m., with a 10 a.m. shotgun start. This will be a scramble format with an entry fee of $40 per non-member and $35 per member. Fee includes: green fees, carts, breakfast, dinner after golf and prizes (bring a bag lunch or order one from the restaurant).
