The 2014 Babe Caron Member/Guest Tournament, the longest standing HCGC Tournament once again was a success, with sunny skies and superb golf shots both days.
Sunday’s play ended in a tie, as the “Cinderella” team of Tony Marino/Matt Felker battled back to share the lead at 14 under par with the tournament favorite team of Gabe Goodwin/Chris O’Leary. On the first playoff hole, however, the Goodwin/O’Leary team showed their mettle, made par, and sealed the victory. Bill Dwyer/Warren Walker placed third at 12 under.
In Saturday’s play the veteran team of RT Grant/Ray Mailman made birdie on their last six holes, shot 12 under par, and captured the victory over the runner ups Goodwin/O’Leary. The Dan Peabody/Chris Cheney team had to go extra holes to snatch third place from the the Dwyer/Walker team. Thanks to all players for your support during the entire four days.
This Friday, Sept. 5 the Glow Ball Night Golf Scramble will be played at 8 p.m. Call the clubhouse now for details and to sign up.
Men’s Twilite League is down to the Championship Match between the Dick York/Jamie York team and the Marty Bouchard/Brian Fitzpatrick team. They will play for the 2014 title next Monday. With one week left the Ashley/Jennifer Wallace team holds a comfortable top spot. The Ladies Closing Banquet will be held Tuesday, Sept. 16.
