I would just like to give everyone an update on our re-building status. Last week, we received the remainder of the full payout from our insurance company. It was an uphill battle, but we finally got the insurance company’s attention by sending certified letters to all of the top executives stating the facts and supplying them with all of the documentation necessary.
It didn’t take long after they received the letters to realize our claim was valid and that they needed to pay out the full amount. One week after the letters were sent we received the final payout amount. It is sad that it took six long months. It was six months that we were held hostage to the amount of work we were able to do.
With that being said we still hope to get something accomplished before the snow flies. We are currently working on that end of it now.
I want everyone to understand that we will pay as we go. This means a building will probably not get put up and completely finished all at once. We are very transparent with everything we do and it is important to us to keep you all in the loop so you know what is happening. Good things take time and we are cautiously moving forward. We will keep you updated as the work begins.
I want to thank everyone for being so patient and for continuing to donate to our re-building efforts.
I would also like to update everyone on Jack. As most of you are aware by now Jack passed away from oral cancer just three days before his trial. Though Jack did not live to see it, justice was served on Aug. 26. His abuser received the maximum sentence. I would like to thank the many people who showed up that day outside the courthouse carrying signs in support of Jack. Jack would have been proud. Jack’s story touched the country with people from around the world signing an online petition, condemning animal neglect and abuse.
The world fell in love with a sweet, gentle kind dog named “Jack,” and they were saddened to hear of his passing. One of Jack’s biggest fans gave him the greatest gift of all. A star has been registered in his memory. We received the paperwork this past week with the telescopic coordinates. A note was enclosed saying “you brought back Jack’s light; our wish for you is to see it every night.” I can’t think of a better way to celebrate Jack’s life. Jack will shine on forever!
