GLENWOOD, Maine — Authorities have not yet identified a Connecticut man who drowned after the boat in which he and another man were fishing overturned in rough water.
The two men — both from Connecticut — were fishing in an aluminum motorboat on Wytopitlock Lake in a remote area of southeast Aroostook County when the accident occurred on Friday afternoon.
The boat was swamped by rough water and capsized, Lt. Thomas Ward of the Maine Warden Service reported earlier. One man was able to swim about 100 feet to shore, but the other man perished. His body was recovered by wardens about two hours later.
The name of the victim has not been released, as presstime, because authorities have had difficulty contacting his wife, who is in Europe.
