TOPS gathers

Take Off Pounds Sensibly of Houlton met at the Aldergate building on High Street for its Friday, October 24 meeting with 15 members weighing in—2 were KOPS, (Keep Off Pounds Sensibly).

Leader Betty Wyman was in attendance, as were secretary Cheryl Driscoll and Joanne Scott, who gave reports. Loser of the week was Diane Folsom with Cheryl as runner-up. Cheryl gave a review of the TOPS fall rally in Bangor October 18. Several of our ladies were honored: Cleo Joslyn for bringing the most smiles among others. The 50/50 was won by Betty Wyman and Cleo the skinny dish.
Barbara Grant gave a report on the Halloween contest. Lois Downing will head up the contest in November. Barbara also read a story on a group of ladies meeting for dinner over a period of several years. The story was hilarious and brought a lot of laughter.
Mildred Gagnon was the speaker of the day with her program on sleep deprivation and tips for good rest. One good tip was do not exercise for a few hours before bedtime; a 10 minute nap helps memory loss, longer may interfere with nighttime sleep. Before we departed, we sang “Happy Birthday” to Marsha Reed.
If you need more information about the chapter you may call Betty Ivey at 532-9653 or Charlotte Marley at 757-8483. Every Friday morning TOPS meets at 8-8:45 for weigh-in. No weigh-in is done after this time to allow time for calculations. A meeting is started at 9 a.m. and usually ends an hour later. Come, enjoy, take off weight and meet new friends.
