PORTLAND – Kenneth W. Welton, Sr., 71, of New Gloucester, passed away Thursday, November 6, 2014, at Maine Medical Center with his family by his side. He was the husband of Susanne M. (Jacobs) Welton. He was born in Caribou on July 13, 1943, a son of the late Martin E. & Margaret K. (McGillicuddy) Welton.
    Ken attended schools in Houlton, after which he entered the United States Navy. While serving in the Navy he became an electrician. After serving, he became a proud member of the IBEW local 567 and worked as a brother of the IBEW in thirty-eight states.
    He was a lifetime member of the VFW, American Legion member of forty-five years and Past Commander. In 1986, Ken became a charter member of the Gray-New Gloucester Eagles Club.
    Besides his loving wife, Ken is survived by his son, Kenneth W. Welton Jr., and his daughter, Michelle Welton, both of Portland. He also leaves Susanne’s children, Sean Cormier and his wife, Dawn and son, Steven Cormier; his sister, Mary Garnier and her husband, Thomas of So. Carolina; and grandchildren, Christal, Ivy and Noah; as well as Ken’s former wife, Imogene Welton of West Virginia; and a daughter-in-law, Diane Reid and her daughter, Lila. He was also the father of the late Michael Reid.
    Relatives and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life on Saturday, November 15, 2014, from 2 p.m. – 7 p.m. at the Gray – New Gloucester Eagles Club, 341 Sabbathday Road, New Gloucester, ME.
