Houlton business news — The Houlton Woolen Mill started up for work last Monday with a sufficient crew to get out the season’s samples and expects to begin their regular order work soon. The remodeled and renovated slaughter house formerly used by Swift & Co. at the C. P. Depot will open
on Monday next doing business as the Houlton Dressed Meat Co. A very desirable tenement on Military street is for rent by Powers & Powers.
A ‘bully’ good gift — The advertisement reads: “Xmas 1914. A Bully Good Present for the Man — a box of those fine B.C.M. 10-cent cigars. Packed in attractive holiday boxes.”

Sizeable pounds of pork — When 1,500 pounds of meat is obtained from three hogs, that’s news in Aroostook County where farmers don’t seem to go in for pork production on any sizeable scale. Will Townsend of Dyer Brook recently raised three hogs, which when dressed out weighed exactly that amount.
A fire averted — So-called “Christmas cheer” almost became a myth in Houlton for this year, Tuesday morning. A live coal flew from the furnace at the liquor store and, unnoticed, ignited a piece of wood and then the coal bin. It required two full fire extinguishers to avert the catastrophe.

Church sendoff for Burnham — The Bridgewater Full Gospel Assembly had a going-away party for the Jerry Burnham family during the Thanksgiving holidays. Jerry will be stationed in Japan while his wife Donna, and Anida and Jonathan, remain in Bridgewater with his parents Fred and Avis Burnham.
