To the editor:
Our family would like to extend our sincerest thanks to all of the people who came out in less than ideal weather conditions Saturday for the friendship supper at the Houlton Fire Department. We were overwhelmed by the generosity shown by the people in the community. It truly is remarkable how people rally around others during their time of need.
The fire station was beautifully decorated with poinsettias for the dinner and the choice of a “traditional” Saturday night meal of beans and hot dogs was the perfect selection.
To all the firefighters who pitched in to make this event happen, whether it be through taking donations at the door, running out for more ice cream or mopping up the floor and helping with the cleanup, we humbly offer our thanks. To those who cooked the food, we also wish to express our gratitude.
A special thank you to Milton and Susan Cone for organizing this wonderful event and for making sure everyone had enough to eat and to Joan Fournier for manning the guest book table. More importantly we thank you for being there for us.
My parents regret that they were not able to attend the supper to personally thank those who came out. However, they read through the guest book later that evening and seeing the many names brought a smile to their faces.
Again, thank you so much on behalf of my parents, Leland and Donna Cyr, and family. We truly live in a wonderful community.
