Guests of Mrs. Marion Hoar over the Christmas holidays have been her daughter, Rebecca Marquis, and son, Chase, from Augusta. Sons Victor, Rodney and Frank and their families arrived during the afternoon and all had a good visit.

Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Webb and son, Dale, traveled to Bangor on Christmas Day to enjoy the holiday with their niece and family, Darlene and Greg Kenny, Shawna, Matt and Trey. After a great visit, the Webbs returned home early in the evening.
Guests of Catherine and Vernon McCarthy at their home in Crystal have been their daughter, Tammy, from Brewer, and Bertha and Blaine Pray. All enjoyed the good cooking done by Catherine, especially the pecan and pumpkin pies, and the fellowship they had during the day. The weather wasn’t too cold, and there was rain instead of snow for the holidays, but it didn’t dampen anyone’s spirit and everyone had a great time.
Still haven’t seen the cardinals at my feeders but haven’t given up hope. Have lots of smaller birds to feed and, of course, the pesky gray squirrel. He arrives every morning about 10 a.m. to hang from his hind feet from the tree limb so he can get his nose into the feeder. After he goes, then I go out, refill the feeders and the little birds have their chance — at least until about 2 p.m., when the red squirrel appears and proceeds to busily empty every feeder. So, at about 2:30 p.m., I dash out again to fill up the feeders so the little birds can have their supper.
Then it is time to cut up the apples and bread for the deer, who have been arriving about dusk, and I certainly don’t want to disappoint them! They have been making trails all over my backyard as they wander around the neighborhood, and they always make tracks to my front yard and side yard also — so you can see how busy the feathered friends and deer keep me.
