Training funds available

    Aroostook County Action Program, Inc. (ACAP) currently has openings available for economically disadvantaged or dislocated workers — those who have lost their jobs through no fault of their own — who are seeking additional training skills. Aroostook County residents who are unemployed or underemployed are encouraged to contact ACAP for more information.

    “Federal funds are made available to ACAP through the Workforce Investment Act and other programs,” explained Torry Eaton, senior manager, ACAP Employment & Training. “ACAP job counselors work closely with clients to assess their career goals and current skills. Based on that information and meeting eligibility criteria, clients may receive assistance with accessing training opportunities. Our staff works closely with clients to help them land permanent full-time jobs.”
    Last year, nearly 6,200 job seekers throughout Aroostook County were provided with workforce development services. 
    “Not all job seekers qualify for the same programs,” said Eaton. “It’s important to call us for more information, including a list of specific eligibility and income requirements.”
