Happy Losers gather

On Feb. 7 the weight class called The Happy Losers held their weekly meeting. Jackie Pratt, the leader opened the meeting with the pledge and roll call. Ten members weighed-in and eight attended the meeting.
Lois Green was the loser of the week and runners-up were Joan Sides, Brenda Raymond and Cecilia Brown. Great job ladies.
The secretary and treasurer gave reports for the week. No program for the week, just discussions on how they lost weight. Please feel welcome to our group every Wed. Weigh-ins from 8 to 8:30 a.m. Meeting starts at 8:45 a.m. See you at the Congregational Church vestry in Island Falls.
Tops group meets

Take Off Pounds Sensibly Chapter 0233 of Houlton met on Friday Feb. 6 at the Aldergate building for its meeting. There were eight members with one of these being a KOPS (keep off pounds sensibly).
The person who lost the most weight this week was Cheryl Driscoll, with Millie Gagnon the runner up. The skinny dish went to Charlotte Marley. Our leader of the group, Betty Wyman, read, how to stay safe when it’s cold. Please come join us for our weekly meeting of encouragement and fun! TOPS meets every Friday, weigh in is from 8 to 8:45 a.m. with the meeting from 9 to 10 a.m.
Oakfield Seniors
The Oakfield Senior Citizens met Feb. 4 at the Oakfield snowmobile clubhouse, where lunch was enjoyed with 18 members attending.
Wanetta Townsend blessed the meal, after which the group recited the Lord’s Prayer and Flag Salute. The secretary’s and treasurer’s reports were read.
Members sang “Happy Birthday” to Bernice Campbell, Tessie Barrett and Lottie Doughty. The 50/50 raffle was won by Nacie Fowler. Cards were to be sent to several people.
The group discussed having an auction next month. Anyone who wants to bring something to “get rid of” but that still might be enjoyed by someone is encouraged to do so.
Attending were Sharon Anderson, Tessie Barrett, George Barrows, Geneva Bell, David Burpee, Bernice Campbell, Earl and Lottie Doughty, Thelma Flowers, Nacie Fowler, Arlene Friel, Donna Furrow, Mildred Gagnon, Marie Gilotti, Sandra Holmes, Ursula Levesque, Bob and Delores Locke and Wanetta Townsend.
The next meeting will be held Feb. 18.
