OAKFIELD, Maine — A 26-year-old Oakfield man was arrested on multiple charges Sunday evening after leading police on a high-speed chase through three communities.
Maine State Police Sgt. Alden Bustard attempted to stop a pick-up truck operated by Christian McDonald at 11:50 p.m. Sunday in Smyrna for a motor vehicle violation. Instead of stopping for the officer, McDonald reportedly fled at a high rate of speed in attempt to elude Sgt. Bustard, according to Sgt. Brian Harris of the Maine State Police Troop F division.
Sgt. Bustard pursued the vehicle from Smyrna to Linneus and then back to Oakfield and once on the River Road in Oakfield. Sgt. Bustard was able to conduct a vehicle immobilization of the pickup and the truck lost control, striking a snowbank and becoming stuck.
McDonald was arrested without further incident. McDonald was charged with operating after revocation, violation of bail conditions, eluding an officer, driving to endanger and the investigation is ongoing with further charges likely. McDonald was transported to the Aroostook County Jail in Houlton, where he was held without bail.
Trooper Dennis Quint assisted Sgt. Bustard in the pursuit.
