 Houlton – Mary Louise Wells, 51, passed away February, 4, 2015, at Mass General Hospital in Boston, courageously waiting for a liver and kidney transplant, surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born Feb. 21, 1963 in Kittery, the daughter of the late David Wells and Emma E. (Cummings) Wells.
    Mary attended Houlton schools and was a graduate of Houlton High School, Class of 1983. She trained as a Certified Nurse’s Aide and loved nursing and caring for others. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Houlton, Maine Unit 209 and served as the unit’s President, District President and the State Education Chairperson. Mary was on a mission to serve our country’s veterans by visiting them at Veterans’ Homes and raising money. She volunteered in the annual poppy drive. Mary was a loving gift to all who knew her and tasted her homemade cooking and preserves.
    Mary is survived by her mother, Emma Wells; two sisters, Pamela Seamans and Dora Cobb; two brothers-in-law, Shawn D. Seamans and Matt Cobb; nieces and nephews, David, Elizabeth, Jacqueline, Shawn Jr., Donald, John, Paul Jr. and Cassandra; ten great-nieces and nephews; many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by her father, David McNabb Nelson Wells, and her brother, Robert George Wells.
    Mary made a difference in all our lives with her kindness, humanity and zest for life. Thank you for singing to us and making a joyful noise. Your voice moved mountains. Say yes to the Dress and Bon Appetit. 1Thess 4:17.
    Friends called at the Dunn Funeral Home, Tuesday, February 10, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home Wednesday, February 11, 11:00 a.m. with the American Legion State Officers and Rev. Kevin Hatch officiating. Mary’s illness made those that knew her aware of the importance of organ donations, so to honor her memory, the family asks that you become an organ donor and/or give a gift in Mary’s memory to the Maine Transplant Program, c/o Dunn Funeral Home, 11 Park Street, Houlton, ME 04730.
