ISLAND FALLS – Harry E. “Sparky” Whitney, 75, died February 12, 2015, at his home, with his family at his side. He was born November 25, 1939, in Island Falls, the son of Vinal and Ruth (Dwyer) Whitney.
Sparky enjoyed hunting, trapping and all of SACHS sports, especially basketball.
He is survived by 3 children, Ralph and Kathy Whitney of Westbrook, Timothy and Joyce Whitney of Kissimmee, FL, Esther and Richard Canavan of Island Falls; 7 grandchildren; 6 great- grandchildren; 2 sisters, Jeannette Farwell and Harriette and Ansel White, all of Island Falls; 2 brothers, Vinal “Buddy” Whitney of Oakfield, Alan Whitney of Island Falls; several nieces, nephews and cousins, the mother of his children, Lillis Whitney of Biddeford and his constant companion, Striker. He was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Elaine Hartin.
The family would like to thank Dr. Hrynick and the hospice for their care and compassion.
