HOULTON, Maine — The Health Services Foundation has announced its big winners in the 14th annual diamond raffle contest.
First prize of the three Stone Princess Cut Diamond Ring went to Julie Delano; second prize of an iPad Air with Trollbeads Fantasy Fairy necklace and white diamond bead, went to Patty Johnson; and third prize of an iPad Mini and tower of Uncle Willy’s chocolates went to Rob Faulkner.

“We had great fun with this as we only had 314 tickets available, three representing over 30 years as an organization and 14 for the 14th year of this event,” said Elizabeth Dulin, executive director for the Foundation. “The tickets all sold out, which made it a great success by raising $6,280 and our winners, as always, were really excited to have their names drawn.”
This was one of the five diamonds the Foundation has remaining that came from Goodrich Jewelry and there was a little bit of nostalgia now that the store is gone.
“In a recent phone conversation with Walter Goodrich, he was delighted we are still being able to hold this event as he was the idea man for the very first one,” Dulin said. “It certainly has been a tremendous success over the last 14 years with over $124,000 being raised to assist local healthcare efforts by bringing us state-of-the-art equipment, investing in capital projects, and so much more.
“Everyone has always been so generous with this event and they would all like to win, however, they are such good sports, knowing what their chances might be but always saying it is for a good cause,” she continued. “Financial support of all the Foundation does for the best in local health care is so very important. When anyone needs services of the hospital we need to be there and must continue to be sure we are always able to provide the necessary assistance when called upon. With the generosity of our communities that is exactly why we are able to do so much within our financial ability.”
Proceeds will support Houlton Regional Hospital and other service area health care requests. For the hospital it will keep departments up-to-date with the latest technology, for ambulance services any number of life-saving equipment.
