HOULTON, Maine — Maine State Police are seeking the public’s help in determining the events that led to a 61-year-old Houlton man being killed in his home over the weekend.
Keith Suitter was found dead inside his mobile home on 412 Hillview Ave. late Sunday night when police were called to investigate. Suitter’s vehicle, a red Ford F-150, was spotted stuck in a snow bank three-tenths of a mile from his home by a friend of Suitter, who called police to investigate, according to Steve McCausland, spokesperson for the Maine State Police.
Investigators with the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit/Evidence Response Team were at the scene of the vehicle crash Monday morning, while other investigators were at Suitter’s residence. The road Suitter resided on is also known locally as the Hollywood Road. Several evidence markers could be seen in the snow leading away from the vehicle.
Suitter, who lived alone, had resided at the residence for approximately 20 years, and had a number of family members in the Houlton and southern Aroostook area, McCausland said.
As of presstime, no suspects had been arrested in connection with the suspicious death. McCausland said he did not expect any updates on the homicide by presstime.
“Detectives continue to gather evidence, conduct interviews with friends and family and State Police continue to seek the public’s help for anything they may have seen along the road on Sunday,” McCausland said.
Suitter’s truck was taken to the state police crime lab in Augusta and an autopsy on Suitter was expected to take place 10 a.m. Tuesday at the state medical examiner’s office, also in Augusta. Police asked anyone who had seen Suitter or his pick-up truck over the weekend to call the Maine State Police Troop F barracks in Houlton at 532-5400.
