A team from Houlton who are presently either leading or volunteering in the Adopt-A-Block of Aroostook program will be going to the Los Angeles Dream Center in April.
During the week in L.A. they will gain exposure and training in a Mobile Food Truck distribution outreach, Adopt-A-Block, Under the Bridge feeding program, Foster Care Intervention, Skid Row outreaches and so much more all in one week’s time. You can read all about it at http:// www.dreamcenter.org.
“The communities we will be working in are some of the most desperate places in America today,” said Tammy Goetsch, one of the participants. “Our goal is that this trip will help us to gain more insight into helping those in need, and practical skills for reaching our own community here in Houlton after our return.”
Houlton’s Adopt-A-Block of Aroostook Program (AABA) was started after the first trip to the Dream Center in 2009. The Dream Center, like AABA, could not exist without the many who volunteer from all over the world in over 200 outreach programs at the Dream Center.
