HOULTON, Maine — Darlene Kenney of Linneus, and her two therapy dogs Emma the Sidekick and JoJo the Sidekick continue to be popular visitors at the Gardiner Health Care Facility on Holland Street.

Emma, an American Staffordshire Terrier mix, and JoJo, an American Bulldog mix, who are both therapy dogs through Silent Sidekicks, have been the cause of many smiles and warm feelings for residents at the nursing home and rehabilitation facility.
Emma and JoJo’s friends at Gardiner Health Care Facility look forward to many more visits from these exuberant dogs throughout the year. The two sidekicks can’t wait to see familiar faces and meet new guests, too.
Emma and JoJo aren’t the only sidekicks making waves in Houlton this year. Morgan the Sidekick had a great time at the Cary Library on March 20 for the Reader of the Pack Program. She was especially excited to listen to a new young reader, who had been watching an older family member participate in the Reader of the Pack Program for over a year. Morgan the Sidekick and her handler, Danielle, will be back at the Cary Library on Thursday, April 16, from 5:30-7 p.m. All children are invited to practice their reading skills while making a new furry friend at the same time. Please call the Cary Library at (207) 532-1302 to register.
Emma, JoJo, and Morgan are all therapy dogs through Silent Sidekicks, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that provides animal-assisted therapy, activities, and programs throughout the state and the Canadian province of New Brunswick. Silent Sidekicks is able to accomplish all that it does through the help of volunteers across its service range, and would love to have you join their team. Silent Sidekicks is currently looking for volunteers with or without four-legged friends.
