What an awesome opening weekend at VaJoWa! The great weather, great members and great golfing were just what was needed after a long cold winter for many. Our front nine is open for walking only, but we plan to have carts on the front nine this weekend and opening the back nine, as well. The driving range will also be open this weekend.

On May 2, we had a meet and greet with our new club pro Dave Grant. Welcome Dave! We look forward to his experience and personality this golf season. Our second Clean Up Day was another success. Thank you to the following members for your help: Stu and Becky Kelley, Di and Ola Tucker, Jon and Betty Smallwood, Connie and Bill Hollis, Billy Boulier, Jenness Gushee, Warren Walker, Heidi Hollis, Scot and Ethan Walker and Maddie Parr. After all the hard work the volunteers were treated to lunch at The Maine Slice.
The results for the opening day nine-hole scramble were as follows: First place with a three under par score of 33 were: Becky Kelley, Heidi Hollis and Warren Walker; second place with a 35 went to the team of Betty Smallwood, Stu Kelley and Ola Tucker. The third-place team of Di Tucker, Jon Smallwood and Jenness Gushee was three over.
The Pairs and Spares golfers met for their first Sunday scramble on May 3. There was a tie for first with each team grossing a 35. The two teams were Ricky and April Bates, Brandon Savage, Kim and Scott Savage and the team of Stu and Becky Kelley, Ted and Terry Pettengill. Coming in second were Peter and Carol Blood, Ola and Di Tucker with a 41. Pairs and Spares golfers meet each Sunday. Please call the Pro Shop for the time this week.
This Sunday, May 10, Mom’s get to golf free in honor of Mother’s Day. Bring a Mom for a round of golf on us then treat her to lunch or dinner at The Maine Slice. A great way to spend the day with “Mom.”
