Maine woods tourism funds available

The Maine Woods Tourism Training Initiative (MWTTI) is offering a limited number of small grants to help tourism companies in Aroostook and six other Maine woods counties secure expert assistance needed to improve their businesses.

The $500-$1,000 grants are available to aid in the hiring of consultants on topics such as social media marketing, customer service, customer relations management, business management and more.
Funding for the grant program comes from a USDA Rural Community Development Initiative. Criteria include that the businesses must have been in operation for at least three years, have paid employees, and be located in Aroostook, Franklin, Penobscot, Piscataquis, Oxford, Somerset or Washington counties.
For more information, contact Aroostook representative Jon Gulliver at the Northern Maine Development Commission, 498-8736 or jgulliver@nmdc.org.
