HOULTON, Maine — The American Legion Post No. 47 held a “Post Everlasting” ceremony May 8 to honor and respect the memory of fellow comrade Francis William “Bill” Hardy, a past commander for Post 47.
“The Post Everlasting is a ceremony that is normally done when a legion member passes,” said Nichole Jordan, first vice commander for the post. “It has been awhile since we have done this ceremony. It’s a time for family, friends, fellow comrades and others to gather and pay respect.”
On Monday May 11, Hardy was laid to rest in Augusta at Maine Veteran Cemetery.
