FORT KENT, Maine — The University of Maine at Fort Kent graduating seniors received their degrees at the 133rd commencement exercises held at UMFK on May 9. University President Wilson G. Hess presided over the ceremony that conferred 163 bachelor degrees and 43 associate degrees.
In addition to awarding the diplomas to the Class of 2015, President Hess conferred keynote speaker Dr. Susan Hassmiller, Ph.D., RN, FAAN, with the honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters degree. Hassmiller is a noted educator of nurses, national health leader, and recipient of the Florence Nightingale Award, and is presently the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation senior adviser for nursing.
Jeremy Bishop, senior class president, addressed his fellow graduates. Hailing from Montreal, he graduated with a bachelor of science in biology.
