It has been a very busy month for us. The new building is progressing very nicely. At this point in time we are waiting for the rest of the permits. The electrical permits have been pulled which cost $250. We also had to have an engineer draw up the blueprints of the new building for the fire marshal and code enforcement – another $2,000.
We then have to pull the permits from the State. We are not sure what the cost on that will be. The windows are in, the shingles are on the roof and the doors have all been framed in. It is a beautiful building and we are all so excited. We are writing some pretty big checks and there is still so much to do. We are straight out fundraising to ensure we have enough money to complete everything.
We recently had a new stove, fridge and microwave donated by Carl and Patricia Crawford. We are still looking for a washer and dryer, as well as 160 feet of 8-foot tall chain link fence. We need a large stainless steel slop sink, and a computer and printer. If anyone has any of these items they would like to donate, please contact Lorraine at The Hollywood Pet Salon 532-7387.
We also wanted to give everyone an update on Bubbles, the little special needs kitty. She is scheduled for surgery next week and then after that she is off to her new home. Yes, that is right, she has been adopted! Her new mom is the best and Bubbles will have the best of everything. In the past month, we have been very fortunate to place three special needs animals into loving homes. This is amazing. More and more people are opening up their homes and hearts to special needs animals, so these babies do not have to spend their lives in a shelter. Life is good!
We have a special benefit on Saturday, June 6 from 3-6 p.m. in Monument Park. The band Monarch will be playing to raise funds for us. There will also be a guest performance by Brad Hutchinson. The name of the benefit will be called “All They Need is Love.” We will also have cotton candy, pizza, pulled pork, chili and meatball subs. Please come out and join us and help support The Ark Animal Sanctuary.
Thank you for your continued support and as always thank you for reading our column.
