The 14th annual Memorial Tournament was held this past Saturday on a beautiful sunny day — finally. The team of Martha and Mike Fasulo and Harriet and Bob Gray were crowned champions from a field of 10 teams. The “senior guys” long tee balls and each lady’s masterful chipping and putting gave them a one-stroke victory over the second-place team of Jerry York, Jane York, Dewey Dewitt and Alex Donovan. The Greg Palmer, Peter Stanley, Ryan Brewer and Dave Edgar team finished third. Thanks to all the players for helping us raise $400 toward course beautification.
Men’s Twilite League begins Monday, June 8 and the Ladies’ League begins Tuesday, June 9. The 2015 schedule for both leagues is posted on the bulletin in the clubhouse and on our website. www.houltongolf.com.
On Saturday evening, June 20, HCGC is hosting its first supper of the year. The event is open to all members, guests and the general public. Signups will begin on June 10 with more information to follow, but mark the date on your calendar.
On Friday evening, June 26 at 8 p.m., we are hosting our second annual Night Golf Scramble. This event will be a nine-hole, four-person team scramble. Please sign up or call the clubhouse if you and your partners would like to play. The tournament is open to members, guests and the public, so sign up now to reserve your spot. We need at least eight teams.
Junior Golf begins Wednesday, July 1 at 8 a.m. with registration at the Driving Range. All 7-15-year-olds are invited to attend this six-week clinic. The clinic will be conducted each Monday morning. Cost of the clinic is $45.
The annual Houlton High School Alumni Scramble will be held on Saturday, July 11. This nine-hole event will be played Saturday morning at 9 a.m. Get your four-person teams ready and sign up now, or if you haven’t a team, sign up and we will place you on a team. You do not have to be a Houlton alumnus to play. Call the clubhouse now at 532-2662 for more information.
Entrants for the yearly President’s Cup Championship are needed. The event is open to all members 15 years old and older. If you are interested in playing in this match play event, call or sign up at the clubhouse. This event uses 80 percent handicap and is bracketed, then played throughout the summer. Deadline to sign up is July 2.
With the summer now upon us, sunny weather and a golf course that is in great condition, isn’t it time you and a friend or family member came out and played? Feel free to call the clubhouse for a tee time or check our website for all the daily special play and events. From now until June 15, we have a special of nine holes for $12 walking or $20 with a cart per person. We hope to see you soon.
