DANFORTH, Maine — The Citizens for East Grand School group has received a $5,000 grant from the Washington County Fund of the Maine Community Foundation to help bring greater relevance to learning through natural resource and place-based education (connection to community, the environment and surroundings).
The fiscal agent for the grant is the Maine Family Resource Center located in Danforth. “This grant will help enrich the lives of area students,” stated Dwayne Young, local school board chair at East Grand.
The Citizens for East Grand School group was founded in June, 2014, by area folks who are concerned that small, rural school systems and natural resource-based communities will soon disappear without intervention.
