Ceremony raises awareness of domestic violence
On Wednesday, Oct. 1, at 6:30 p.m., a ceremony will take place at the President’s House at the University of Maine at Presque Isle to raise awareness of domestic violence. The University will host the event in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month on the lawn in front of the President’s House. The Battered Women’s Project will present a short program. Campus hosts concert
On Monday, Oct. 6, at 7 p.m., Dos Miguels, featuring percussionist Michael Wingfield and keyboardist Michael Shea, will offer a night of jazz, Afro-Brazilian and Afro-Cuban music at the Campus Center at UMPI. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for students and free to UMPI, NMCC and SAGE students with valid ID. The duo will host a community workshop the day before their performance – from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 5. Cost is $20 for adults, $10 for students. Dorgan offers workshop
On Tuesday, Oct. 7, from 6-7:30 p.m., Distinguished Lecturer Darrell Dorgan will offer a community workshop based on the work he did to move the North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame – he serves as its executive director – from dream to reality. The workshop will provide strategies for fund-raising and building a network of support. The workshop is free, but you must reserve a space to participate. For more information, call 768-9452.
