To the editor:
As a native of New Brunswick and a frequent visitor to my beloved Maine, I often read your newspaper and others. Over the weekend I was in Houlton and picked up a copy of the Bangor Daily News with headlines blaring “2 Dead, 4 Hurt in Rampage” and knowing the drama involved in Friday’s manhunt for the accused, the readers’ eye is drawn to lurid details.
What a surprise at the end of the article when the reader learns that Houlton Pioneer Times writer, Joseph Cyr, contributed to the report. How smart was that on behalf of a big city daily to involve a local journalist!
Kudos to Mr. Cyr, who also contributed the photo of armed U.S. Customs officers at the border port of entry. Way to go HPT!
