HOULTON – Doreen Sue (Stewart) Ritchie, 49, passed away July 23, 2015, in Houlton with family and friends by her side after a six year battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born August 22, 1965 in Houlton, the daughter of the late Floyd and Loretta (Faulkner) Stewart.
Doreen was a very hard worker. She worked 10 years at Brooks Pharmacy, and 21 years for Walmart as a Department Manager. She loved all of the customers she met and her associates were all family to her. She always had a smile on her face, even when she was sick. She fought right up until the end, never giving up. She enjoyed going to Eastport with her husband, John, where they befriended Brenda and the late Eric Richards. They made her feel like family and enjoyed bonfires together. Doreen and Brenda later met in Eastport in memory of Eric and John.
Doreen is survived by three sisters and their families, Sandra Austin of New Limerick, Jan Dee and her husband, Bill, of Main Stream, NB, and twin sister Darleen Guy and her husband, Larry, of New Limerick; several nieces, nephews and cousins as well as her cat, Frisky. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, John; and her brother, Robert.
Doreen wanted to personally thank all of the people who were there for her, giving her rides to Brewer and Boston, taking her out to eat and to bonfires when she was too weak. You all helped her to get out and about, too many names to mention, but you know who you are. She also wanted to thank the churches for praying for her and giving her cards. She really appreciated it.
Friends may call 12 to 1 p.m. on August 3, 2015, at Bowers Funeral Home in Houlton where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. with David Tuttle officiating. Interment will follow the service at the New Limerick Cemetery. For online condolences and guestbook please visit www.bowers funeral.com.
